Scouting is a Family Affair

While Boy Scouts is much more about the boys leading the troop, it is still guided by adults.  As in any organization, a Boy Scout troop requires a fair amount of work to be well run.  This requires volunteers to take responsibility for various tasks.

Join your son in Scouting

At Troop 575 we recommend that at least one parent of each Scout serve as a volunteer for the troop.  Volunteer service can be accomplished in many ways.  The most obvious positions are Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Troop Committee Member and Merit Badge Counselor.  There are also numerous other tasks that need to be accomplished, some on a continuous basis, and others as individual events.  Whatever you decide to do, we appreciate the help, and you can be satisfied that you are helping your son have a better scouting experience.

We are all pulled in many directions in today’s world, and often it is our own children who don’t receive the time and involvement that we would all like to provide for them.  By giving of yourself to help the troop, the time you provide is also time spent experiencing scouting together with your son. Double the benefit!

Earn Parent Rank advancements

Our Troop has defined Parent Rank guidelines to inform Parents of the many dimensions of Scouting and to help you identify the various adult volunteer roles critical to maintain an active and healthy Troop. The Parent involvement progression is defined to be gradual by first understanding the basic information of what a Scout does and how Scouting works. The second level is getting more involved with our Troop and identifying where your skills and interest can assist to provide the best scouting experience for everyone involved. The third level is becoming a well-rounded adult leader by getting to know the broader universe of Scouting. As with the Scout First Class rank the Parent First Class rank should be obtainable within the first year of Scouting.

Troop parents and adult leaders that achieve our Parent First Class rank are recognized as the supporting framework of our Troop. To the many active parents within out Troop “Thank you for investing in the education of our youth”!
